The midrange Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, on the other hand, was great for a few wider shots of the stage and when Isaac stepped out from his mic stand to rock out. The Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 was great for close-up shots of all the band members, since everyone was set back from the very front of the stage. HANSON SHOUT IT OUT SONG ISOWhile I wouldn't call it overly bright, this show was lit well enough to use f/2.8 glass at ISO without much complaint. While the overall lighting was much dimmer this time around, the more level lighting made it a more enjoyable shoot, especially with the inclusion of more accent effects from the back of the stage. ![]() While the previous show had spotlights on Isaac and Taylor, Zac was left in the dark. One really nice aspect of this gig, in contrast to the last show of Hanson's that I caught at the Pageant, was the fairly “democratic” lighting. 14 Track listing edit All songs written and produced by Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Zac Hanson. This was a high energy show – I don't think I'd seen Taylor jumping around quite as much as he did at this show, to the point of pogoing center stage. From the profoundly upbeat single 'Thinking 'Bout Something'' to the heartfelt and introspective closer 'Me Myself and I,' 'Shout It Out' is a fun listen that beams with genuine talent and creative artistry'. While the lighting wasn't as beautifully airy as their performance at The Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey, the soft, understated treatment worked well for photographing the trio – so much so that I didn't miss the spotlights of their last show at the Pageant. HANSON SHOUT IT OUT SONG FULLMeanwhile, the trio is currently gearing up for a five-show run at New York’s Gramercy Theatre from April 26-30, each of which will feature a different one of Hanson’s last five albums played from start to finish.Hanson brought the Shout It Out Tour to a house full of adoring fans at The Pageant in the most energetic show I've seen from the brothers to date. The group will perform at Bamboozle New Jersey on May 1 and then play eight dates on the Bamboozle Road Show in May. ![]() Hanson performs “Thinkin’ ‘Bout You,” a song that first surfaced on the group’s “Taking the Walk” studio podcasts from its last album, Friday on CBS’ “The Late Show with David Letterman” and April 26 on NBC’s “Today” show. That was the stuff we grew up listening to and…really worked its way onto this record.” And that also translated into more pop and singer-songwriter stuff we used to listen to, like Billy Joel’s ‘An Innocent Man,’ which is one of his biggest records, there’s horns all over the placed on that record. “Otis (Redding) and countless others, and Motown…you forget how much horns played a part in a lot of really iconic kind of American R&B sound. ![]() “Y’know, we grew up listening to a lot of that early R&B stuff, especially ’60s and ’70s R&B,” notes Isaac. Seven of the songs feature horn charts by Jerry Hey (Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire), while one of Motown’s Funk Brothers, bassist Bob Babbitt, guests on the album, which was produced by the three Hansons and recorded in El Paso, Texas, Tulsa, Okla., and Los Angeles. The 12 tracks on “Shout It Out,” including the lead-off single “Thinkin’ ‘Bout Somethin’,” represent some of the most soulful work Hanson has committed to record as well. Youngest Hanson Zac adds that “it’s a record where we said, ‘Yeah, let’s just play really loud cowbell and horns…As long as that’s what makes you feel motivated and excited and gives you a sense of joy when you hear this music, that’s what we need to do.'” ![]()
